10 and 11 November: LUCSoR Conference

The annual LUCSoR Conference takes place on November 10th and 11th. This year's theme is "Compassion, Social Engagement, and Discontent: Believing and the Politics of Belonging in Europe Today".


3 October holiday: university closed

October 3rd is a local holiday in Leiden: the ‘Leids Ontzet’. For this reason, the university buildings are closed and there will be no lectures. This is also in effect for International Studies in The Hague.

Help save energy! Wear your sweater on February 5th

On February 5th  it’s Sweater Day. This means the University will lower the temperature in the  lecture halls in the Lipsius and Huizinga building for one day to help reduce CO2-emissions.  Don’t forget to bring a warm sweater to make sure you won’t be cold! In the week of February 8th, the University will announce the gains of this year’s Sweater Day.

Flags at half-mast and a minute's silence for Paris

Today at noon we will observe a minute’s silence as a token of respect for the French nation, following the recent events in Paris. On behalf of the Faculty Board I would like to invite all colleagues and students to join us at this hour.
