The Reception History of Isaiah 24-27 in Early Judaism and Early Christianity - Wilson de Angelo Cunha

Wilson de Angelo Cunha

This project will investigate three types of ancient and varied sources.  The first type consists of ancient Bible versions, which were translations of the Hebrew text of Isaiah into Greek (Septuagint), Aramaic (Targumim), Syriac (Peshitta), and Latin (Vulgate).  This research approaches these versions as sources that provide information as to how they interpreted Isaiah 24-27.
The second class of sources consists in quotations of Isaiah 24-27 in books termed nowadays as Apocryphal and also New Testament documents.  Lastly, this project will also research some of the most influential commentaries on Isaiah in Early Christianity, such as those of Eusebius of Ceasarea and Jerome.  The results of this research will be presented in a dissertation about one of the chapters of Isaiah 24-27.
