Merel Kahmann is a PhD student at Leiden University. In Utrecht she conducted her studies in the field of Cultural Anthropology and has attained a Master’s degree in Migration and Ethnic Studies at the International School for Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Amsterdam. Her current PhD research is about Moroccan influences on Moroccans living in the Netherlands. More specifically, she focuses on how the Moroccan government tries to stay in contact with Moroccan migrants abroad and how that relation affects the transnational identity of Moroccans living in the Netherlands.
