Thursday 11 March: lecture by Mark Cohen about muslim antisemitism
LUCIS and the Institute for Religious Studies are organizing a lecture by Mark Cohen, titled: "Muslim Antisemitism: Old or New?". The lecture will be held on Thursday 11 March at 3 p.m.
"Antisemitism is widespread among Muslims today, both in the Muslim world and in Europe. It extends from institutions of Islamic government and religion all the way down to the man and woman in the street. Where does it come from? Is is rooted in the Qur'an and other classical Islamic sources, or is it something relatively new? And what is its prognosis for the future?"
Mark Cohen is professor of Near Eastern Studies at Princeton University. He is known as one of the most important scholars on history of Jews living in Arab lands in the Middle Ages.
