Exploring New Vistas in Historiography of Science
The research goup Philosophical Foundations of the Historiography of Sciences organises a colloquium series entitled 'Exploring New Vistas in Historiography of Science'.
Aims
Our research group has launched a colloquium series 'Exploring New Vistas in Historiography of Science'. The series have a number of purposes.
First we want to stimulate debate on theoretical and methodological issues with respect to writing the history of science. In general these issues do not get much attention, unrightly so we believe.
Second we aim to bring philosphers and historians of science together in this colloquium. Although the colloquium is organised by the Institute of Philosophy, the speakers we invite are solely historians of science.
Participants may come from both disciplines. We hope the different perspectives can be combined in a fruitful way and contribute to solving a number of problems we address in our research project, which is the third aim of the colloquium series. We have invited historians of science who confront these problems from their own perspective and thereby contribute to researching the scope of the 'new vistas' we want to explore.
