Research
My research project is on explanation and understanding in the sciences. The first stage consists of a critique of the most popular current high-level theory of explanation, unificationism, and the subsequent development of a more modest theory of the structure of explanations. In later stages, these results will first be tested an applied on case studies in the natural sciences, and then their compatibility with accounts of understanding in other fields of science may be considered.
Fields of interest
My academic interests are philosophy of science, philosophy of physics and the metaphysical status of time. I also have an interest but no academic ambitions in existential and cultural philosophy, especially Nietzsche, and in the theory of roleplaying games and interactive fiction.
