On Thursday the 31st of May professor Christopher Pelling (Oxford University) will hold the last Forum Antiquum lecture of this term. His lecture "Dionysius of Halicarnassus and Regime Change" is also part of the conference "Dionysius of Halicarnassus and Augustan Rome". Afterwards there is a reception at the Faculty Club. On Thursday 31 May and Friday 1 June 2012 an international conference on Dionysius of Halicarnassus and Augustan Rome will be held at Leiden University. In recent years, there has been a remarkable revival of interest in Dionysius and his intellectual context. This international conference brings together the leading specialists in Dionysian scholarship: scholars working on rhetorical theory, literary criticism, historiography, and Roman culture.
Professor John Hamilton (Harvard University) will be at Leiden University for two events: a workshop for bachelor and master students on Friday the 1st of June and a public lecture on Monday the 4th of June.
