Project description
The primary goal of the project is to document the synchronic structure of the language producing a grammatical description, a text collection, multi-media corpus of verbal interactions and a lexicon, the storehouse of the indigenous knowledge systems of the speakers. Data from Tafi and their analyses on various topics such as nominal classification, tone, vowel harmony, verb serialisation, information packaging constructions etc. will contribute to our understanding of its language specific properties in terms of how they have arisen and how they relate to typological and cross-linguistic patterns both within its genetic neighbours and in the area.
