Computer-related issues

Webmail, remote workspace, etc.

Webmail

You can access your email at home or anywhere else using a web browser:

Hint:
Most people don't use their U-Mail account (with addresses ending in @umail.leidenuniv.nl) on a regular basis. You can automatically forward all email from this account to your regular VUW email address (ending in @hum.leidenuniv.nl). To set this up, logon to U-Mail using your ULCN credentials, click on 'Mailforward/Autoreply' and enter the address your email should be forwarded to.

VUW Remote Workspace

You can access your personal files and a number of applications from outside the university network:

Hint:
Many publishers restrict full-text access to articles in their journals to computers on the university network. This means that you won't be able to read or download articles from these journals when you're at home or on the road. Using Internet Explorer through VUW Remote Workspace circumvents this problem.

More information

Much more information (including news, manuals, and first-aid instructions) is available on the website of the Faculty of Humanities, in the section ICT-voorzieningen Geesteswetenschappen (Dutch).
