Fields of interest

Fieldwork oriented descriptive linguistics. Languages of Southeast Asia and Oceania, focus on Indonesia

Research

Fieldwork in Croatian dialects, regional Malay, Blagar, Indonesian, Gorontalo, Dawanese, Helong, Biak, Southeast Babarese.
Research resulting in publications on the following languages in Europe and Indonesia:
            Latvian, Croatian dialects;
            Indonesian, other varieties of Malay (Ambon Malay, Kupang Malay, Larantuka Malay, Makassar Malay), Javanese, Kerinci, Biak, Gorontalo, Dawanese, Helong
all Austronesian); Blagar, Nimboran (non-Austronesian);
      and on the following more general topics:
            linguistic fieldwork, language policy, language teaching, lexicography, language endangerment.

Current research:
            Dawanese (West Timor): grammatical description;
            Indonesian: reference grammar;
            Southeast Babarese (SW Moluccas): aspects of grammar and relation with neighboring languages;
            Biak: texts.
