Profile
The Leiden University Centre for Linguistics (LUCL) is one of the seven institutes within the Faculty of Humanities. It unites the linguistic research and teaching at Leiden University. LUCL is also responsible for the Academic Language Centre as well as for most language teaching within the Faculty.

History of the institute
The Leiden University Centre for Linguistics (LUCL) was established on 1 September 2005. Since then, all linguists of the Faculty of Humanities (formerly Arts) of Leiden University have been united in one institute.

Research profile
The linguistic research carried out within LUCL can be divided in four thematic groups. These groups cover the areas of descriptive linguistics, historical linguistics, linguistic models, and interdisciplinary domains.
