LUCL Colloquium 1 October 2010
On October 1, David Odden (Ohio State University) will give a talk entitled "Tenses and meaning in Kikerewe".
Information
In the presentation, David Odden will outline his present work on a descriptive grammar of the Bantu language Kikerewe, specifically on the meaning of tense inflection, which is realized as a system of 80 single-word inflectional forms. This system conveys such information as time reference, aspect, mood, certainty and expectation, also reflecting positive vs. negative clauses, and main vs. subordinate clauses. More details can be found in this abstract.
