24 November 2014: Lecture by Irma Boom: ‘Boom & Books’

On the 24th of November, Book and Digital Media Studies and LUCAS will organise a lecture by the celebrated Dutch book designer Irma Boom. The lecture is entitled: 'Boom & Books'.

Irma Boom (Lochem, 1960), one of the world’s leading book designers, will come to Leiden to talk about her work and to showcase some of the books that she has designed. These book designs range from the very large – the beautiful 2,136-page anniversary book for the Dutch company SHV – to the very small – the miniature monograph that she has designed as a portfolio of her own work. Irma Boom's work has been exhibited in, among other places, the Centre George Pompidou in Paris and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

To get an impression of her work, and for more personal information, see her website: http://www.irmaboom.nl.
