We would like to thank you all so much for your participation in the LUCAS Graduate Conference 2013! We had a wonderful time and have greatly enjoyed the quality and variety of your presentations. We hope we have been able to create a stimulating environment for your research and that it has been a memorable experience to all of you. We hope to see you again at the next LUCAS graduate conference in two years!
After the very successful first edition of the LUCAS Graduate Conference in 2011, ‘Imagining Europe’, LUCAS will organize its second, biennial graduate conference on 24-25 January 2013. Titled ‘Death, the Cultural meaning of the End of Life’, this edition aims to explore how death has been represented and conceptualized, from classical antiquity to the modern age, and will examine the extent to which our perceptions and understandings of death have changed (or remained the same) over time. The wide scope of this theme reflects the broad diachronic, cross-cultural and interdisciplinary range of LUCAS’s research programmes.
The Journal of the LUCAS Graduate Conference is an annual Open Access journal published in collaboration with Leiden University Library, which was created to publish the best papers presented at the biennial LUCAS Graduate Conference.
