course description

Dutch 5 & 6 is an intensive daytime Dutch course for people with a good basic knowledge of Dutch.

During the course, the student’s existing vocabulary is expanded to include abstract terminology. Special rules and exceptions are explained. Various forms of linguistics are dealt with in this course including speaking, listening, reading and writing. Texts and topics of conversation are centred around various popular scientific and current topics. The students will learn approximately 1200 new words. Conversation skills are practised in class as well as in groups and language lab equipment is used. Furthermore, the tutor will deal with texts and grammatical topics. Students are expected to prepare at home; preparation time is estimated to be approximately 3 hours per session.

The pace is fast and students are expected to actively participate and prepare for the lessons.

Upon completing the course, participants will be able to have a conversation on a variety of current topics with relative ease. Participants will also be able to understand texts and conversations.

The target level is B2 of the Common European Framework.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants may enrol in the course series Dutch Plus.
