Dutch 3 & 4 is an intensive daytime Dutch as a second language course. It is a combination of Dutch 3 and Dutch 4: for people who have followed Dutch 1&2 (110 hours) or a similar course at a different language institute.

For this course knowledge of the language is required. Those who have a certificate from the previous course can enrol directly. Others are required to check by means of an entrance exam if they have sufficient knowledge to take part.

course description
Dutch 3+4 is an intensive daytime Dutch course which integrates levels 3 and 4. It is aimed at people who have done Dutch 1&2 (120 hours) or a similar course elsewhere. The starting level of this course is A2 in accordance with the Common European Framework.
During the course, the student’s existing vocabulary is expanded to include abstract terminology. Attention is given to special rules and exceptions. Various forms of linguistics skills are dealt with: speaking, listening, reading and writing. Texts and topics of conversation are centred around various popular scientific and current topics. The students learn approximately 1200 new words. Conversation skills are practised in the class as well as in groups and language lab equipment is used. Furthermore, the tutor deals with texts and grammatical topics. Students are expected to prepare at home; preparation time is estimated to be approximately 3 hours per session.
The pace is fast and students are expected to actively participate in and prepare for the lessons.
Upon completing the course, participants will be able to have a conversation on a variety of current topics without too much difficulty. Participants will also be able to understand texts and conversations.
The target level is B1+ in accordance with the Common European Framework.
Upon successful completion of this course, participants may enrol for Dutch 5 or Dutch 5+6 course, or the Preparatory course for the Staatsexamen NT2 programme II.
