No knowledge of the language is required in order to join this course. It is a beginners course. If you pass the test at the end of the course you can join Dutch 3 or Dutch 3+4.  

course description

Dutch 1 & 2 is an intensive Dutch as a second language daytime course, integrating Dutch courses 1 and 2. It is a beginners course in which all the basic language skills will be dealt with: speaking, listening, writing and reading. Texts and topics of conversation will be centred around everyday situations. Attention will be given to basic vocabulary: students will learn approximately 1300 words. Various aspects of elementary Dutch grammar are also included in the course. Conversation skills will be practised with the whole class as well as in groups and language lab equipment will be used. Students are expected to prepare at home; preparation time is estimated to be approximately 3 hours per session. Upon completing the course, participants will be able to have a basic conversation about everyday subjects, like where they live, family matters, going out, studies, work, medical topics. They will also be able to understand basic texts and conversations. Course result: level A2 (Common European Framework). Upon successful completion of this course, participants can enrol in the Dutch 3 or Dutch 3&4 course.
