Course Description

During the summer period, Leiden University's Language Centre provides an intensive Dutch course for native speakers of German. At the end of this 5-week course students will have reached level 4, which is equivalent to level B1(CEFR). This is the entrance level for many of Leiden University’s degree programs taught in Dutch. The course is primarily aimed at prospective students of Leiden University who want to pursue a bachelor degree at the Faculty of Social & Behavioural Sciences, the Faculty of Science, or at the LUMC. Other native speakers of German are also invited to enroll.

The course material is not included in the registration fee. Course participants are required to purchase course materials themselves.

Target Group and Admission Requirements

This course is aimed at native speakers of German. Prospective students who would like to pursue a degree at Leiden University (for which command of Dutch is required) must apply to the Admissions Office for a conditional letter of acceptance.

Prior knowledge of Dutch is not required for enrollment in this course as it is intended as a beginners course. Upon successful completion of the course, participants can enroll in Dutch 5 or Dutch 5+6.
