Dutch 1-4 for German speakers

Intensive summer course

During the summer period Leiden University's Language Centre will provide an intensive Dutch course for native speakers of German. At the end of this 5-week course students will have reached level 4. This is the entrance level for many degree courses taught in Dutch. The course is primarily aimed at prospective students of Leiden University who want to study a bachelor programme at the Faculty of Social & Behavioural Sciences, the Faculty of Science, or at the LUMC. Other native speakers of German are also invited to enrol.

Prior knowledge of the language is not required for enrolment in this course. It is a beginners course. Upon successful completion, participants can enrol in Dutch 5 or Dutch 5+6.   

course description

This course is aimed at native speakers of German. Prospective students who would like to do a degree at Leiden University, for which Dutch is a requirement, must apply to the Admissions Office for a conditional letter of acceptance.
Prior knowledge of Dutch is not necessary for enrolment in this language course.The content of the courses is geared towards communicative Dutch and general Dutch as used in degree programmes. The course covers all skills: from learning basic vocabulary, listening, conversation to reading and writing. The course also focusses on grammar. Due to the demands placed on students by the degree programmes, emphasis is on reading and writing skills.
