University Entrance Examination tests

The Language Centre arranges some of the tests which are part of the University Entrance Examination, including the German, English and French tests. The tests are closely linked to how the language will be used in the course that you are planning to follow.

N.B. For future students of the English department the discussion will be held in English
English Essay
- You will write an essay of approximately 800 words. The essay must be clearly structured and consist of the following: 1) introduction; 2) argument; 3) conclusion. You must base your essay on one of a variety of prescribed topics.
Fees and Cancellation
Fees
The fee is € 85 per test / resit. You may resit each test only once. There will be a charge of € 85 for each resit. The fees are non-refundable and can be paid at the Language Centre’s reception, (Faculty of Arts, 1st Floor, Lipsius Building, Cleveringaplaats 1, Leiden).
Cancellation
If you have enrolled for a test we assume that you will be present on the agreed day and time. The examiner will take time out for you and will be expecting you. If you are unable to attend you should cancel in good time (at least one day in advance and preferably by phone: 071 527 4180 or 071 527 2330). Failure to notify us will result in a fine.
