Jasper van der Steen is University Lecturer in Early Modern History at Leiden University. His recent publications include Memory Wars in the Low Countries, 1566- 1700 (Leiden/Boston: Brill, 2015) and the co-edited volume Memory before Modernity. Practices of Memory in Early Modern Europe (Leiden/Boston: Brill, 2013).

In 2015 the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research awarded him a personal Rubicon grant for a two-year research project: The Nassaus Ltd: A Dynastic Family Business in Early Modern Europe, c. 1550-1750. This project will be based at Humboldt University, Berlin and is due to commence on 1 February 2016.

Jasper is editorial secretary of Tijdschrift voor Geschiedenis.
