Curriculum vitae
Dr. Manon van der Heijden is a social historian, working in the field of early modern urban history. In 1998 she received her Ph.D. at Erasmus University Rotterdam in 1998, where she worked from 1992-1998. From 1999-2006 she was appointed Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam. Since September 2006 she works at Leiden University as a teacher and as director of a research-project – in 2004 granted NWO – Civil Services and Urban Communities, 1500-1800:http://www.hum2.leidenuniv.nl/history/csuc
Fields of interest
She is interested in the history of the family, dispute regulation and social control, urban finances, citizenship, civil society and public services. She is editor of the Dutch Journal of Social and Economic History (Tijdschrift voor Sociale en Economische Geschiedenis, www.tseg.nl) and member of the Advisory Board of Crime, History & Societies. She is director of Group Formation and Civil Society of the N.W. Posthumus Institute (www.rug.nl/posthumus). She is board member of History of Public Finances (Stichting Geschiedenis van de Overheidsfinanciën, www.sgvdo.nl)
