Sinterklaas uses the European Seminar to denounce European Border Policy.
- In his address to MA-EUS students, Sinterklaas bitterly denounced the EU's immigration policy. Explaining why he was only accompanied by three Piets, he told how Spanish immigration officials had arrested the rest when the fourth in succession had given his/her name as ‘Pedro’. He himself had been deported after immigration officials had brought up the "incident" of the boys in the butchers cellar and the on-going 700 year-old case brought by the butcher for defamation of character.
- It was about time that Turkey was allowed into the EU, he proclaimed, so that he could travel more easily from his diocese. His plans to fly from Madrid airport had to be abandoned and he had to be smuggled into the country in a tramp steamer, via Schiedam. It had been a thoroughly unpleasant trip – five days on rough seas with a diarrheic horse, as he so eloquently put it.
- In answer to questions, the Sint confirmed that he was still pressing his case with the EU competition authorities against Father Christmas. "No wonder he can afford all those presents, the man has been bought by Coca-Cola" the Sint explained. He then upbraided some of the naughtier students for lapses observed by the Piets, hurled around some pepernoten, distributed some presents and left to visit the children next door.
