Martijn van der Burg recently defended his Ph.D. thesis (Nederland onder Franse invloed. Cultuurtransfer en staatsvorming in de napoleontische tijd, 1799-1813) in which he analyses the level of cultural transfer between France and the Netherlands in the early 19th century and its impact upon the process of state formation.
