Paul Houdijk

ACPA researcher Paul Houdijk will give an organ concert on the Maarschalkerweerd organ in the H. Maria van Jessekerk  in Delft on June 13th 2015 at 4 pm. The programme comprises the ‘Symphonie Romane’ of Charles-Marie Widor (1844-1937). As opposed to his earlier spectacular and virtuosic works, Widor based this symphony on Gregorian chants, making it a religious piece of music. The ‘Symphonie Romane’ was his last organ symphony.

In the context of the 2015 commemorative year of Michael Maarschalkerweerd, the foundation set up for this occasion has organized a symposium in cooperation with Museum Catharijneconvent, entitled: Michael Maarschalkerweerd: Maître, Meister of gewoon meesterlijk? The symposium will take place on June 27, 2015 at the Museum Catharijneconvent, Langenieuwstraat in Utrecht.  As part of the programme, Paul Houdijk will give a lecture/concert on the Maarschalkerweerd organ in the adjacent cathedral of St. Catharina, demonstrating the results of his research, ‘Maarschalkerweerd en Zoon in kerkorgels’.

Henri Bok

From 5 to 12 July, ACPA researcher Henri Bok will be leading the bass clarinet section at the international Julián Menéndez summer course in Avila, Spain. During the masterclasses and presentations  he will also bring forward the findings of his research on new techniques for the bass clarinet.

Henri Bok will give a number of concerts at the annual ICA ClarinetFest 2015 in Madrid, which is held from 22nd till 26th of July. One of these is a concert with clarinet music of the Australian composer Graham Hair. He will also present his latest compositions during his feature recital entitled ‘Last but not Least’, taking place on July 25th at 6 pm.  The festival will also be the occasion of the presentation of the Bok Wiseman carbon fibre bell, a new revolutionary bell Bok developed in cooperation with the firm Wiseman in London, which allows for the easier production of more stable and finely controlled multiphonics, among other extreme techniques.
