A series of upcoming activities by PhDArts co-director Janneke Wesseling and PhDArts, docARTES, and ACPA researchers Lilo Nein, Danne Ojeda, Bobby Mitchell, Ato Malinda, Jonas Staal, Henri Bok, Donna Agrell, Giuliano Bracci, and Brigitte Kovacs
On 11 and 12 November, PhDArts co-director Janneke Wesseling will give a lecture entitled ‘Kunst & Kritiek’ about looking at and writing about the visual arts, based on her recent publication De Volmaakte Beschouwer (2015) . The lecture is part of the KunstNU series, a six-part crash course on contemporary art that is a collaboration between Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art and De Appel arts centre.

This fall semester, Janneke Wesseling is also giving a series of lectures and workshops, Writing Art, in an Honours Class organized by the Academy of Creative and Performing Arts and the Honours Programme of Leiden University in collaboration with the Lectorate Art Theory & Practice of Janneke Wesseling at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. In the course, students experiment with different approaches to ‘Writing Art’.
PhDArts researcher Lilo Nein will perform in the context of the exhibition What is Left? curated by Walter Seidl and Gülsen Bal. The event takes place at Künstlerhaus Wien and is part of the Vienna Art Week.

ACPA researcher Henri Bok will be guest of honour at three different events in Brazil during the month of November, with masterclasses at the University of São Paolo, focusing on the expansion of contemporary playing techniques, and masterclasses, concerts, and a lecture-demonstration, entitled Harmonic D ’n A: the integration and practice of overtones in contemporary bass clarinet performance, at the 2nd Brazilian Bass Clarinet Meeting, Northeast Region in Maceió, and at the Rio de Janeiro Clarinet Festival.

Two pieces of docARTES researcher Giuliano Bracci will premiere this November. The piece Solo, for voice will be sung by Cora Schmeiser at November Music in Den Bosch as part of Vox Sanguinis. Ensemble L'Arsenale will premiere the piece Assetata ancora for voice and ensemble at Nuova Musica a Treviso.
PhDArts researcher Brigitte Kovacs is participating in the Exhibition NO WALLS Part 1, at Friday Exit in Vienna.
